Clinical research aims to answer scientific questions in order to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases and conditions. BIRD and Belgium have a long tradition of clinical research in the field of inflammatory bowel disease. For more than 20 years, leading clinicians and hospital physicians from across Belgium have conducted or participated in major national and international clinical trials. This joint effort has led to significant improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of IBD patients. Each year, several clinical research projects are developed within BIRD, and they come to fruition thanks to the help and dedication of all our IBD patients who are willing to participate in these studies.
